San Fernando is a landlocked component city in the coastal province of Pampanga. It serves as the provincial capital as well as the regional center of Central Luzon.
The city has a land area of 67.74 square kilometers or 26.15 square miles which constitutes 3.38% of Pampanga's total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 354,666. This represented 14.55% of the total population of Pampanga province, or 2.86% of the overall population of the Central Luzon region. Based on these figures, the population density is computed at 5,236 inhabitants per square kilometer or 13,563 inhabitants per square mile.
